New Stuart melting point apparatus from Wolflabs

Introduction
New SMP50 melting point apparatus from Stuart has been added. In the Stuart SMP50 Automatic Melting point the latest digital camera technology is employed to produce a high resolution video of the sample melt, this allows the intelligent melt algorithm to identify the smallest of changes within the sample, accurately and reliably determining the melting point of up to three samples simultaneously.

Features and benefits
- The SMP50 features a useful storage drawer to house all standard capillary tubes. The drawer also contains a small glass cutter that can be used to accurately cut capillary tubes sealed at both ends. Not only will the glass cutter always get the cut in the centre of the tube, but it will also reliably give a clean cut making sample loading cleaner and safer.
- The latest digital camera technology is employed to produce a high resolution video of the sample melt, this allows the intelligent melt algorithm to identify the smallest of changes within the sample, accurately and reliably determining the melting point of up to three samples simultaneously.
- All operation is via the 7” high definition colour touchscreen. Once programmed, users can leave the SMP50 to complete the melt analysis independently. Alternatively the melt can also be observed on the screen live or post-melt. During post melt review additional measurement tags, such as meniscus point, can be added if required or the automatically obtained result can be overwritten.
- The SMP50 has a custom designed user interface based on an established Android platform for intuitive setup and navigation. The familiar elements of an Android operating system help the user to feel comfortable, with everything where you would logically expect it.
- The unit also features handy storage for pre-prepared samples, safely away from the heat source eliminating accidental sample melting.
- A generous 8GB on-board storage is included, which should comfortably hold approximately 300 melt files including videos. Results can also be transferred via USB stick on to a PC for a more permanent long term record. All video files include a temperature stamp, so whatever device you view them on you can confirm the automatically obtained result.
- The sample chamber is protected by a safety hood that not only protects your sample from accidental sideswipes but also acts as a light shield, ensuring that any adjustments to the ambient lighting conditions don’t affect the automatic melting point determination.

Stuart melting point apparatus from Wolflabs

Introduction
Stuart SMP30 melting point apparatus from Wolflabs. Designed for fast accurate determination of melting points, the SMP30 can take three samples simultaneously within the optimised heating block, the unit has a maximum temperature of 400°C.

Features and benefits
- To allow maximum flexibility a plateau facility is included with variable ramp rate between 0.5 and 10°C in 0.1°C increments.
- The tubes are illuminated with bright white LED’s to give the clearest view of the samples during the melt.
- The block has been designed for easy access for cleaning, the front of the head is fully removable to allow full access to the micro furnace.
- The SMP30 has a large clear back lit alphanumeric LCD display, running the menu system which clearly guides you through the melting process with comprehensive directions.
- Language is switchable between English, German, French and Italian.
- The SMP30 features an innovative head up display. This unique feature displays a floating image of the block temperature, visible through the eyepiece, in front of the tubes. The head up display eliminates the need for the user to keep switching their gaze between the tubes and the temperature display, through the eyepiece they can now see both at once.
- To allow the most comfortable viewing angle the SMP30 features a two stage head adjustment, in the first movement the head is pulled towards the user, then in a separate motion the angle of the head can be adjusted by up to 126°, and will automatically hold in place due to the torsion resistant design to create the perfect viewing angle. The head can then be stored safely back within the body of the unit for storage.
- The design of the unit has lots of other useful features such as slots for storing pre-prepared samples and a storage draw to hold a container of capillary tubes.
