GAS INJECTION SYSTEM

Gas Injection System Part #: 8100-110

Designed to maintain a constant level of hydrogen gas mix in your chamber, the Automatic Gas Injection System frees the operator from the worry of not enough Hydrogen to maintain the anaerobic environment. This system also eliminates the need to purge the Anaerobic Chamber manually every week, and alleviates concern for the chamber environment over a long weekend. The system accomplishes this by injecting the gas mix into your chamber for a fixed time period on a fixed time schedule. Both of these time periods are adjustable by the customer to suit the chamber activity and size. May be purchased as an option with the original order or added later by the customer to existing chamber.

FAN BOXES

Coy Laboratory Products catalyst boxes come in two styles, heated and unheated.

DIGITAL, HEATED

The heated catalyst box allows the whole chamber to be operated at a thermostat-controlled temperature above ambient up to approximately 4O~C. The heating unit employs very reliable resistance-type heaters. The chamber atmosphere is drawn in by a quiet, powerful fan motor, across the heaters and up through the desiccant and type D catalyst Stak~Paks*. This ensures a complete mix of the atmosphere to eliminate uneven temperatures and control humidity and oxygen levels. Therefore, with a double chamber, one may be used for the daily routine while the other is used as an incubator.

UNHEATED
The unheated catalyst box is designed for those laboratories which do not require elevated temperatures in their chambers. It functions in a manner similar to the heated box. Air is quietly drawn in and up through the desiccant and catalyst Stak-Paks*, thus ensuring a complete mix of the atmosphere to control humidity and oxygen levels.

Size: 14.5"L x 5.75"W x 7"H
  (37cm x 14.6cm x 18cm)
* Stak-Paks not included.
  Order separately
Part #'s: 8535-025 (heated)
8535-027 (unheated)

CHILLER

The Chiller accessory is designed to maintain a temperature at or below ambient temperatures. It's ability to maintain a temperature is dependent on the heat load inside the chamber as well as room ambient conditions. The Chiller can be used in conjunction with the Heated Fan Box for temperature control from 13 degrees C to 65 degrees C.

Chiller Part #: 8200-220

HUMIDIFIED INCUBATION BOX

The accessory allows cultures to be humidified with the same atmosphere content (gas and temperature control) inside the chamber, while at the same time not affecting* the rest of the chamber. A simple air pump resting inside the chamber pushes the chamber atmosphere through a tube that rests in the water reservoir, at the bases of the Humidified Incubation Box.
  • Features 12" x 12" x 16" (L x W x D). Custom sizes available on request.
  • Closed Incubation Box stays more than 80%RH while chamber humidity stays less than 40%RH. (with Dessiccant Stak-Paks used)
  • Temperature uniformity will be +/- 1 degree or better.
* Dessicant Stak-Paks should always be used to limit the amount of humidity in the rest of the glove box, since the Humidified Incubation Box is not a sealed box.

The desiccant STAK-PAK will help maintain low humidity. The STAK-PAK is included as standard equipment on all new Coy Anaerobic Chambers. They may be purchased as an upgrade for use with all Coy Fan Boxes - an investment we heartily recommend.

Here's why: the small cost today will be repaid in the increased efficiency and convenience the STAK-PAK will bring you. Made of durable brushed aluminum with a stainless steel screen, these enclosures allow high temperature rejuvenation and may be refilled indefinitely with fresh media. They may be stacked for great flexibility in controlling your atmosphere.

The STAK-PAK is guaranteed to improve every chamber, as well as the disposition of every operator.

ATMOSPHERE FILTER SYSTEM

This recirculating system will control contamination of particles 0.3um and larger. Engineered much like the DEHUMIDIFICATION APPARATUS, the filter receives chamber atmosphere drawn by a vacuum pump and returned to the chamber. The filter sits outside the chamber and can be changed without compromising the integrity of the chamber’s seal. Flexible tubing and quick disconnect fittings are used for capsule attachment. The fittings have internal shut-offs to maintain chamber environment.

MOISTURE TRAP ASSEMBLY

This accessory is designed to prevent moisture being drawn into the Vacuum Pump. If you’ve experienced problems with Airlock, or any other equipment, "blowing fuses" or "the pump is frozen", this may be because the Pump has drawn moisture out of the Airlock and into the Pump causing rust to form on the cylinder walls. The Moisture Trap is an economical way to maintain your more expensive equipment with little or no maintenance required. The Coy Moisture Trap Assembly may be installed at the factory with the original chamber order, or added later by the customer.

Moisture Trap Assembly Part #: 7002-050

ARM PORT PLUGS

The Arm Port Plug will fit tightly into the arm hole of both the Custom Chamber and Polymer Glove Box to make an airtight seal when the gloves are being changed, or there is a just plug the hole. This device fits into the arm hole from inside the Chamber, so when not in use it is stored at the rear or end of the Chamber.

This is an 8" (20 cm) round device with a silicone gasket around its edge to fit tightly inside the arm hole. With its large, easy to grasp handle, this is a convenient addition to the Chamber accessories. The plugs work equally well with gloves, iris openings and the gloveless systems.

Arm Port Plugs Part #: 8540-025

GAS LEAK DETECTOR

Part #: 7000-050

Manufactured for Coy Laboratory Products by Quantum Inc., this is a sensitive electronic instrument that can detect the presence of a variety of gases. Its ability to detect the hydrogen found in anaerobic gas mixtures, even at very low concentrations, makes it useful for finding leaks in anaerobic chambers, both at start-up and during regular maintenance.

The palm-sized Gas Leak Probe responds to minute concentrations of certain gases by emitting a geiger-counter like sound that increases in speed as you pin-point the source of leaks. There are no meters or lights to be monitored. In addition to its use with anaerobic gas systems, it can be used in detecting leaks in other gas systems carrying most combustible gases as well as certain refrigerant gases.

SPECIFICATIONS: MODEL BT-45
Factory Mutual Approved for use in Class 1, Division 1, groups B, C, and D hazardous areas.

Gases Detected: Hydrogen, (e.g. in anaerobic gas mixtures); most combustible gases; types R-1 1, R-22, and R-502 refrigerants.

Minimum Detectable Leak: 1/1000 oz./yr., or 1/2 cu.ft./month from a pinhole leak under ideal conditions.

Detection Range: 25-10,000 ppm (e.g., .0025% to 1% of hydrogen).

Battery Life: 15-20 hr.., continuous use.

Size: 43/4" x 33/4" xl 5/B (12 cm x 9.5cm x 4cm)

MICROSCOPE SOCK

This flexible vinyl sock fits directly over the eyepieces of your microscope, allowing them to extend through the wall of the chamber for easier use. While the sock is optically clear, sealing of the unit to the wall will interfere with your line of vision between the gloves when not using the microscope. For this reason, we recommend ordering this option only on chambers with more than two gloves, or if the microscope will be used frequently. When ordering, please indicate the distance from the table to the top of the microscope eyepieces.

Part #: 7001-110

EXTERNAL MOUNT LAMP

The lamp is a standard four-foot fluorescent fixture housing two 40-watt tubes. It is mounted to the top framework of the chamber with a single bar that spans the length of the chamber and adds only six inches to its height. The support bar and its mountings are the same type used in the construction of the chamber framework.

External Mount Lamp Part #: 7001-140

GAS PURGE SYSTEM

A factory installed gas tube shower system efficiently purges the chamber interior. This is ideal for creating inert gas environments in a sealed chamber. Included are all the controls to adjust and control flow rates. An optional oxygen monitor is available. Available as a manually operated system or in conjunction with the oxygen controller for automatic function.

Gas Purge System Part #: 8546-025

POP-LOK

  • Time-saving, gas-saving chamber entry system for single transport tubes.
  • Accepts most commonly used anaerobic transport tubes.
    • Max. size: 20mm X 2OOmm including cap or stopper.
  • Introduces negligible, controlled amount of oxygen.
  • Spring-loaded, self-sealing and lubricating silicone caps.
  • Easy to install while maintaining anaerobic atmosphere.
  • High-quality, low maintenance construction.
  Part #: 6550-000
The Pop-Lok ensures consistent results without the gas and time consumption of using the airlock for introducing tubes. The chamber remains consistently at a low oxygen level regardless of the number of times tubes are introduced. In COY tradition, the POP-LOK is virtually foolproof and maintenance-free. And, best of all, it can be installed on operating chambers without disturbing the existing atmosphere.

FLAMING DEVICE

This incandescent unit will "flame" a bacteriological loop and the edge of a culture tube. It is plugged into the electrical outlet inside the chamber and is operated by foot switch that is attached to the IFD and routed through the chamber wall via a feen through adapter or utility nipple. Operated only momentarily, the device will have little or no effect on the chamber temperature.

NOTE: If ordering, you will need to also order extra utility nipple or feed through adapter for the foot switch access cord.

Part #: 6530-220

DRY NITROGEN PURGE SYSTEM

Part #: 8546-050

This system is an alternative way to dehumidify a chamber through a purging procedure with a dry nitrogen gas. This process ensures a constant positive pressure inside the glove boxes and atmospheric Coy chambers to block contamination and moisture inflow. The Dry Nitrogen Purge System can work in tandem with the Humidity Controller to automatically maintain moisture levels down to 5% Rh. The Pressure Relief/Bleed Valves provided with all Humidity control systems safely relieves excess pressure before it can cause any damage.

FYRITE TESTER

For applications that require accurate measurement of the carbon dioxide gas inside a glove box the COY Fyrite Tester is the choice. The COY Fyrite employs the well-known "Orsat" method of volumetric analysis involving chemical absorption of a sample gas, such as CO2. The reagent used to absorb carbon dioxide is a potassium hydroxide(dyed red). The Fyrite absorbing fluid is selective in the chemical absorption of CO2. Therefore, the accuracy is well within the range required for industrial and professional applications, and does not depend on complicated sequential test procedures.

Fyrite Tester Part #: 2550-010

ATMOSPHERE CONTROL SYSTEM

For use with Gloveless Anaerobic Chamber only

Incorporates many of the other Coy systems into one economical, space saving accessory for the Polymer Glove Box. Included in the system is the circulation fan, gas purging mechanism for the airlock, and gloveless sleeve system, dehumidification unit, gas injection system and tray for the catalyst Stak-Pak. The Atmosphere Control System is placed behind the Purge Airlock on a Polymer Glove Box.

Atmosphere Control System Part #: 8550-025

HUMIDIFICATION APPARATUS

The Apparatus consists of a Fan Assembly with an absorbent wick inside the Chamber and a Water Reservoir with Circulating Pump outside the Chamber. The fan and pump may be controlled manually or automatically with the COY Humidity Controller. A small adjustable recirculating fan is added to the Chamber to ensure that the atmosphere is properly and completely mixed. This Apparatus can easily and quickly raise the chamber humidity to 100%. If desired, the fan assembly may be turned to avoid direct aim at delicate equipment. Pressure relief valves and GFI power cords are included for safety.

Humidification Apparatus Part #: 8532-025

DEHUMIDIFICATION APPARATUS

Used alone or in conjunction with a COY Humidity Controller, this unit dries the atmosphere in the chamber. A recirculating pump (110V, 60 Hz, 3 A, 65 cfm, 1841 l/m) draws chamber air through the two drying capsules mounted on the right-hand, outside rear of the cabinet. A total of 2 ½ lbs. (1.1 kg) of desiccant with a water capacity of approximately 10-14% by weight fills the capsules. Several features make this unit easy to maintain:
  • The desiccant has an indicator to show when rejuvenation is needed.
  • Desiccant capsules are mounted outside the chamber for easy access.
  • Flexible tubing and quick disconnect fittings are used for capsule attachment.
  • The fittings have internal shut-offs to maintain the chamber atmosphere even with the capsules removed for maintenance.
Included with the apparatus is a circulation fan for the chamber interior and relief valves installed in the chamber back panel.

Other Modifications

To provide for the greatest possible flexibility of applications, Coy offers a number of additions and modifications to its chambers. These include, but are not limited to, extra sleeves and gloves, extra nipples, custom sizes and shapes, gas purge, filtration, humidity and oxygen controls and other specially engineered items to fit your requirements.

AIRLOCK SYSTEMS

Coy Laboratory Products, the leading supplier of flexible controlled-environment chambers, has available a modular chamber concept incorporating a new one-piece cast airlock and an innovative microprocessor-based automatic controller.

The modular approach allows multiple chambers to be chained with a three-port airlock, which increases ease of operation and significantly reduces space requirements and cost. A new casting process eliminates pinhole leaks sometimes found in older cast units. Leaks are now a thing of the past.

Features:
FRONT LOADING... makes the airlock easier for the operator to use, and more importantly, eliminates the need for extra clear space at the end of the chamber for opening the door. The airlock end of the chamber can now be right against a side wall.

RECTANGULAR SHAPE... has more usable space. The flat floor prevents bottles and flasks from tipping over, taller jars will pass through upright.

SYMMETRICAL DESIGN... allows the airlock to be used at either end of the chamber, or
with multiple chambers.

Auto Purge Airlock

Part #: 8150-110
For Polymer Gloveboxes Only.

s

Part #: 8508-275
For Custom Aluminium and Vinyl Chamber

The Coy Automatic Purge Airlock is essentially the same design as all other airlocks with one large exception, NO VACUUM PUMP! These airlocks use a purging procedure to match the chamber's atmosphere before the inner airlock door is opened. The purge airlock is ideal in applications where materials can be damaged by a vacuum ie: cell and tissue membranes. Or for use in all Coy Polymer Gloveboxes where a vacuum can never be used. All COY Oxygen Control (Hypoxic) Chambers/Gloveboxes come with a Purge Airlock.

The Airlocks timer is preset at the factory but you can adjust it to your needs. Longer purge times for stricter applications. The chamber gas mix maintenance system is also factory set, but again, may be adjusted. With this system, the gas mix is automatically injected into the chamber for the selected time period on the selected time interval to easily maintain a safe, adequate hydrogen content. Any excess pressure is exhausted from the chamber by a pressure relief valve.

Automatic Airlock

This model incorporates all the features of the manual air lock and adds the convenience and economy of automatic airlock cycling. A single push of a button frees the operator for other tasks while the airlock automatically cycles through a programmable sequence. Gas savings are realized by perfectly consistent vacuum and pressure levels.

Front-panel lamps indicate cycle progression, airlock status, and any fault condition, such as open door, empty gas cylinder, etc. An audible alarm emits a pleasant beep at cycle completion and other different sounds to indicate fault conditions.

All utility connections for electricity, vacuum pump hookup, and gas connections, as well as manual operation switches are at the rear of the airlock. The manual switches are intended for use when first setting up a chamber or to override the automatic control. They are operational even with the automatic control circuitry totally removed.

Microprocessor control not only enhances reliability, but allows any user-specified sequence to be programmed into the unit. The sequence(s) can be changed later for a nominal charge.

The Coy engineering team can readily adapt and modify the Coy Chambers & Glove Boxes to meet your unique needs. Usually custom engineering is costly and time consuming and quite often results in an untested design. Coy Systems not only offer you the convenience of designing your own chamber with tested, balanced components, but enables you to start up almost immediately upon receipt since all Coy Chambers & Glove Boxes have a very simple set-up procedure. Durability: All seals, seams, equipment and accessories are pressure checked at the factory for leaks before shipment. The simplicity of design also helps when routine maintenance is required. Often all that is needed is a screwdriver or allen wrench to "tweak" the equipment and keep it in top working condition. In some systems you may replace major parts of the chamber every 3 to 6 months costing you hundreds of thousands of dollars every year. With the Coy Chambers & Glove Boxes there are no such "hidden costs" and no lab "down time" while you wait for the replacement parts. Just a simple, convenient, cost effective chamber that works day in and day out.

Other Modifications

To provide for the greatest possible flexibility of applications, Coy offers a number of additions and modifications to its chambers. These include, but are not limited to: extra sleeves and gloves, extra nipples, custom sizes and shapes, gas purge, filtration, humidity and oxygen controls and other specially engineered items to fit your requirements.

Manual Airlock

Part #: 6400-025 (includes vacuum pump)

The unit is cast in a single piece by a new process that provides a leakfree unit for life. The integrity and reliability obtained by this technique far surpass that of any earlier cast unit. Valves for operation are conveniently located on the top, with a vacuum gauge that monitors internal vacuum. The doors are specially spring-loaded as a safety measure against inadvertent over-pressure. The door closing mechanism is a center-point pressure design that ensures complete seal against the single-piece molded silicone door seal. Clear acrylic doors allow perfect vision into the airlock during operation.

This unit may be returned to the factory for upgrade to the Automatic Airlock Model.

Moisture Trap Assembly

Part #: 7002-050

For all Vacuum/Purge Airlocks Coy Labs recommends a Moisture Trap Assembly to prevent moisture being drawn into the Vacuum Pump.

Standard and Pass-Thru Airlocks mount on the right side of the chamber (left-mounting available on request). They minimize chamber atmosphere loss and contamination when parts are moved in and out. Connecting Airlocks can extend system flexibility by mounting to either the right or left side of the chamber; a double flange desing allows several chambers to be connected in series. All airlocks include a 1/4" NPT pipe tapped opening for connection of purge gas, and a 3/4" NPT outlet to accommodate a safety relief/bleed valve.

GLOVELESS ANAEROBIC CHAMBER

Gloveless Anaerobic Chamber Part #: 8300-100 (3 ft Polycarbonate version)
Gloveless, anaerobic chambers offer the operator a convenient glove-free ability to handle and inspect samples. A special cuff and sleeve-vacuum system allows the operator to work barehanded (or with surgical gloves) inside the chamber. After the operator inserts their arms into the sleeves, a foot operated sleeve-vacuum system creates an inert atmosphere in the sleeves prior to removing the Arm Port Plugs. This permits the operator's arms to enter the chamber without compromising the chamber atmosphere. Tactile efficiency is improved.

From the two basic models available, choose the design which suits your laboratory volume. Select either the smaller, all clear, polycarbonate style with automatic purge airlock, or the larger aluminum style available with an automatic purge airlock or automatic vacuum airlock. Accessories and options include Airlock Systems, Atmosphere Control System, Forced Air Incubator (Custom Aluminum Chamber only) an oxygen/hydrogen monitor, temperature, humidity and oxygen controllers.

Custom Aluminum Chambers may also be gloveless anaerobic units with the same options and accessories.

As with all gloveless systems, this design is primarily for microaerophilic applications. For the far more stringent applications involving strict anaerobes, the Coy flexible, vinyl chamber with gloves is the product of choice around the world.

Anaerobic glove box Coy polymer gloved catalyst stak-paks electrical plug strip removable rear panel

Gloveless Anaerobic Chambers offer the operator a convenient glove-free ability to handle and inspect samples under low oxygen (0-5 ppm) conditions. A special cuff and sleeve-vacuum system allows the operator to work barehanded (or with surgical gloves) inside the glove box. After the operator inserts their arms into the gloveless sleeves, a foot operated sleeve-vacuum system creates an inert atmosphere in the sleeves prior to removing the Arm Port Plugs. This permits the operator's arms to enter the glove box without compromising the anaerobic chamber atmosphere. Tactile efficiency is improved. The Arm Port Plugs are used to seal the glove box while it is idle.

Units operate similar to other COY anaerobic chambers using a palladium catalyst to remove O2 through a H2 Gas Mix (5%). Equipped with an airlock to establish low O2 conditions prior to transferring samples and instrumentation in/out of the work area.

All COY Polymer Gloveless Anaerobic Chamber include a built in heating system (up to 40° C) and Glove Box Dehumidifier to maintain proper moisture levels through automatic digital control.

HUMIDITY CONTROL GLOVE BOX

The Coy Humidity Control Chamber is designed for applications where there is a need to control the humidity either below or above ambient conditions, or both. The control of the chamber humidity is achieved by using either a manual system or an automatic system connected to the COY Humidity Controller, all in a gloveless environment.

Dehumidification Apparatus: A recirculating pump draws chamber air through two drying capsules filler with desiccant mounted on the outside rear of the chamber until the desired humidity level is achieved and the pump is shut off (either manually or automatically by the controller.) The desiccant has an indicator to show when rejuvenation is needed.

NOTE: An optional Dry Nitrogen Purge system is now available. If desired you may use a manually controlled dry nitrogen purge instead of desiccant capsules.

Dehumidification Appparatus

Dry Nitrogen Purge System

Humidification Apparatus

Humidification Apparatus: A Fan Assembly with an absorbent wick is mounted to the inside rear wall of the chamber, while the water reservoir and recirculating pump are outside. This system may also be controlled manually or automatically.

Safety: The chamber comes equipped with safety relief valves that provide pressure relief with the control system and also function as check valves, ensuring no moisture or contaminants enter the chamber in the event of a system failure causing negative pressure.

Manual Control: The manual control chamber includes a hygrometer as an accessory which the operator has to periodically check to be sure the humidity is at the desired level. The turning the appropriate equipment pump switch "ON" or "OFF" to control the amount of humidity in the chamber.

Automatic Controller: The Humidity Controller provides automatic monitoring and control of the relative humidity. It activates the necessary system (dehumidification for humidification) when the moisture level deviates from the adjustable set point. Flow rates, sensor position circulation, and orifice positions were all considered in the design to maximize control capabilities and humidity uniformity across the chamber. Since this is a closed loop circulation system, an inert gas environment can be maintained in the chamber while controlling the humidity.

Accuracy: Humidity sensors have traditionally been unstable, show large measurement hysteresis and dramatic changes in accuracy with small temperature changes. The design of this advance sensor has addressed all of these shortcomings. (See chart)

  • Long terms stability is better than 0.5% Rh/year in normal conditions.
  • Hysteresis is less than 0.5% Rh over an excursion of 20 to 90 to 20% Rh.
  • No Damage is caused by condensation on the sensing element.
  • Temperature coefficient is minimal at +0.04% Rh degree C.

MEASUREMENT/CONTROL RANGE: 0-100% Rh
ACCURACY: +/- 2% Rh from 0-90%. +/- 3% Rh above 90%
RESOLUTION (PRECISION): 0.1%
CONTROL TOLERANCE: +/- 0.5% to 1% of Set Point

Model 10 Gas Analyzer Part #: 6200-000

Coy Laboratory Products is pleased to introduce you to the compact Model 10 Oxygen - Hydrogen Gas Analyzer. For the first time, at an economical price, both the oxygen and hydrogen levels can be constantly monitored by this one analyzer.

For over 10 years the Model 10 Analyzer has been successfully used by researchers to monitor levels of the oxygen and hydrogen in their anaerobic chambers. Many times an incorrect gas mix or problem with the valves and regulators has been highlighted by the data constantly displayed on the front panel. The device is compact and will easily pass through the airlock for independent operation within the chamber. No outside tubes or electrical connections are required.

Coy Laboratory Products has developed the ability to monitor oxygen directly from the atmosphere. You are kept informed all times of minute changes in oxygen levels. Your chamber becomes a dynamic environment in which you can readily determine leaks, bad catalyst or a need for change in equipment layout or airlock procedure.

By reducing the size of the sensing devices, Coy has been able to marry hydrogen and oxygen monitors in one compact self-contained unit. Now labs who might otherwise have wanted separate, costly equipment to measure hydrogen can reap the additional benefits of knowing the levels of this volatile gas. Each analyzer is especially calibrated to your specific background gas mix. The security of knowing that an incorrect gas mixture can't jeopardize your equipment or your safety is priceless.

And yet the Coy Model 10 costs only a fraction of the price of a conventional oxygen analyzer. Best of all its backed by CoyLab's reputation for products that do what they promise. Call us today for more information or a demonstration. Find out what's really happening in your chamber.

OXYGEN CONTROL CHAMBER

Hypoxic, Anoxic, Hyperoxic

The only system available for hypoxic/hyperoxic tissue culture studies that allow CO(2) incubation AND sample manipulation conveniently in an oxygen controlled atmosphere. Through a strategically positioned oxygen sensor and controller the Coy Hypoxic Chamber can maintain a uniform gas concentration throughout the chamber and optimum control. As gases are required in the chamber, they are introduced through a unique gas tube shower system which, along with the internal fan, provides the circulation required for uniform gas distribution and fast response of the controller. To allow for the relief of pressure induced by gas addition, special check/bleed valves are installed in the chamber.

Cultures are incubated in the heated, humidified, gas controlled (up to 60% O2 ) incubation box which resides inside the chamber. The chamber is heated and gas regulated, but not humidified. This allows samples to be analyzed with delicate equipment that would be damaged by high humidity. More importantly, controlled oxygen conditions are maintained in the sample analysis area. Tests that could not be performed with a bench top enclosure and CO(2) incubator because of the biologically fast reaction to ambient oxygen can now be performed.

MODULAR DESIGN Coy systems are designed to be expandable and easily modified through the many options available.

3 STANDARD SIZES Chambers are available in three lengths: 36", 59" and 78" (91 cm, 150 cm and 198 cm). All are 32" (81 cm) deep and 40" (102 cm) tall.

CUSTOM SIZES AND CONFIGURATIONS Special size chambers are available at minimal additional cost, and accessories are available to economically create special configurations.

CHAMBER DETAILS
  • The chamber front is made of 20 mil pressed polished clear vinyl with 40 mil vinyl bottom extending 2" (51 mm) up on all sides. It is mounted on a 3/4" (19 mm) plywood base covered with a 1/4" (6 mm) foam pad and heavy vinyl. A 1" (25mm) aluminum tubular frame supports the chamber. All chambers come with a large equipment entry installed opposite the entry lock. This entrance consists of a 28" (71 cm) entry cap that is taped in place after installing large equipment in the chamber.
  • Glove ports, 10" x 17" oval opening (25 x 43 cm) on 19" (48 cm) centers, are constructed of a special highly flexible vinyl frosted to prevent cracking and gas leakage at bend points.

Two 1 1/2" (38 mm) I.D. nipples are attached for electrical wiring input. (Additional nipples may be ordered at the time of purchase.)

Also included as standard with all chambers is a six receptacle electric outlet with a foot switch for controlling one outlet.

  • Medium gloves are supplied with the chamber (replacements or other sizes are available from Coy Laboratory Products).
  • The latex gloves are placed over a special cuff and then placed in the permanently attached sleeves and taped in place. This system provides a means of replacing damaged gloves without affecting the atmosphere of the chamber. Additional glove ports can be ordered mounted in most positions if requested at the time of purchase.

From the two basic glove box styles, choose the design which suits your laboratory volume. Select either the compact, all clear, polycarbonate style with automatic purge airlock, or the larger aluminium glove box available with an automatic vacuum airlock.

Coy Anaerobic Chamber / Glove Box Gas Injection System

* Stak-Paks not included.
  Order separately
Part #'s: 8535-025 (heated)

Model 10 Gas Analyser Part #: 6200-000

Coy Laboratory Products is pleased to introduce you to the compact Model 10 Oxygen - Hydrogen Gas Analyser. For the first time, at an economical price, both the oxygen and hydrogen levels can be constantly monitored by this one analyser.

For over 10 years the Model 10 Analyser has been successfully used by researchers to monitor levels of the oxygen and hydrogen in their anaerobic chambers.

Each analyser is especially calibrated to your specific background gas mix. The security of knowing that an incorrect gas mixture can't jeopardize your equipment or your safety is priceless.

And yet the Coy Model 10 costs only a fraction of the price of a conventional oxygen analyser. Best of all its backed by CoyLab's reputation for products that do what they promise. Call us today for more information or a demonstration. Find out what's really happening in your chamber.

Coy Anaerobic Cabinets / Glove Box Air Lock

Coy Laboratory Products, the leading supplier of flexible controlled-environment chambers, has available a modular chamber concept incorporating a new one-piece cast airlock and an innovative microprocessor-based automatic controller.

The modular approach allows multiple chambers to be chained with a three-port airlock, which increases ease of operation and significantly reduces space requirements and cost. A new casting process eliminates pinhole leaks sometimes found in older cast units. Leaks are now a thing of the past.

FEATURES

FRONT LOADING... makes the airlock easier for the operator to use, and more importantly, eliminates the need for extra clear space at the end of the chamber for opening the door. The airlock end of the chamber can now be right against a side wall.

RECTANGULAR SHAPE... has more usable space. The flat floor prevents bottles and flasks from tipping over, taller jars will pass through upright.

SYMMETRICAL DESIGN... allows the airlock to be used at either end of the chamber, or
with multiple chambers.

Model 10 Gas Analyzer for Oxygen/Hydrogen

This patented analyzer constantly monitors both oxygen and hydrogen levels within a chamber at a fraction of the cost of two separate analyzers. The unit monitors both oxygen and hydrogen directly from the chamber atmosphere. The analyzer’s constant LED display keeps users continually informed of minute changes in oxygen and hydrogen levels and provides the operator the opportunity to make adjustments. If there is an incorrect gas mix or a problem with valves and regulators, users are alerted by visible and audible alarms. Use of the Model 10 Gas Analyzer can typically pay for itself. For example, labs can use less-expensive, non-certified gas mixes by employing the Model 10. This enables labs to reduce operating costs while also protecting against possible gas mix concentration issues. Voltage outputs are available as an upgrade to new and existing Model 10 units. The outputs allow the readings to transfer to a data logger, chart recorder or computer program, which is especially helpful when 24-hour documentation is required.

Gas Injection System

Coy’s automatic gas injection system frees the operator from worrying about having enough hydrogen to maintain an anaerobic environment. The system injects the hydrogen gas mix into the chamber on a fixed time schedule for a fixed time period, allowing users to leave the chamber unattended for days at a time. Laboratories achieve improved performance and ease of use when the gas injection system is teamed with the Coy Model 10 Gas Analyzer.

Control oxygen and humidity

Glove boxes - Hypoxic - Aluminium - Coy

The only complete system available for hypoxic/hyperoxic tissue culture and live animal studies that allow CO2 incubation AND sample manipulation conveniently in a heated oxygen controlled atmosphere.

Through a strategically positioned oxygen sensor and controller the Coy Hypoxic Glove Box can maintain a uniform gas concentration throughout the chamber and optimum control. As gases are required in the glove box, they are introduced through a unique gas tube shower system which, along with the internal fan, provides the circulation required for uniform gas distribution and fast response of the controller. To allow for the relief of pressure induced by gas addition, special check/bleed valves are installed in the glove box.

Temperature Control (option) Units can either be heated or unheated or unheated with a separate Incubator. A solid state heater provides reliable, stable temperature control with digital display and controls in both our Incubators and Heated Glove Boxes.

CO2 Control (option) All COY Hypoxic units can be equipped with optional CO2 Controls. A revolutionary controller and sensor, allows for precise control and monitoring of CO2 gases inside the glove box. The sensor relays information to the controller which then opens the appropriate Solenoid controlling a CO2 or N2 Gas to equilibrate the CO2 levels inside the glove box. The digital display allows the user to monitor the CO2 Levels constantly.

Humidity Control (option) COY offers a few different ways to control the humidity of the glove box depending on the application. Some heated units have a built in solid state dehumidifier with digital displays and controls. Typically the Solid State Automatic Dehumidifier is recommended but for some low volume/small size animals a more affordable desiccant drying system may be utilized. Cell Culture units typically are provided with an optional Humidified Incubation Box (high humidity box within the glove box) to prevent samples from drying out however since these are not air tight the moisture eventually escapes into the glove box atmosphere so the Solid State Dehumidifier or Desiccant drying system is used to maintain ideal relative humidity.

Cell Culture Units Cultures are incubated in the heated, humidified, gas controlled (up to 100% O2) incubation box which resides inside the glove box. The glove box is heated and gas regulated, but not humidified. This allows samples to be analyzed with delicate equipment that would be damaged by high humidity. More importantly, controlled oxygen conditions are maintained in the sample analysis area. Tests that could not be performed with a bench top enclosure and CO2 incubator because of the biologically fast reaction to ambient oxygen can now be performed.

Live Animal Containment Depending on the labs animal care requirements the units can be heated or unheated. Most units for live animal containment will also require the COY Animal Filtration System to remove the animal waste byproducts, these units can be automatic or manual, with the manual based on a simple protocol the lab establishes, automatic units are based off the CO2 levels. The Animal Filtration system is a closed loop circuit with a pump drawing the glove box atmosphere out and through the filters (Carbolime and activated carbon) and back into the glove box.

Airlock Sizes for Live Animal Containment Due to the variety of number and size of animals kept in these glove boxes COY manufactures each unit to specifically match a labs cage size to the airlock providing optimum efficiency.

Glove boxes - Humidity Controlled - Aluminium - Coy

These units allow the user to control interior humidity levels above or below ambient conditions. All units are equipped with the latest in Humidity Sensor technology and Ultra Sonic Humidifier and either Desiccant Drying System or a Dry Gas Purge System.
STYLES Two standard styles available, a clear Polycarbonate unit that features a lower cost to purchase, and relatively low cost to customize. The Aluminium units while more expensive on initial purchase are a longer lasting, sturdy build that with the addition of tempered Glass can be used in highly corrosive chemical use. Polycarbonate units have 4 standard sizes and Aluminium units have two.

AUTOMATIC CONTROL The automatic controller provides monitoring and control of the relative humidity. It activates the necessary system (dehumidification for humidification) when the moisture level deviates from the adjustable set point. Flow rates, sensor position circulation, and orifice positions were all considered in the design to maximize control capabilities and humidity uniformity across the glove box. Since this is a closed loop circulation system, an inert gas environment can be maintained in the glove box while controlling the humidity.

HUMIDIFIER The Ultra Sonic Humidifier vibrates the water in the reservoir to provide a cloud of mist that is pushed into the glove box from the pump system. At the same time air is pulled out of the glove box and circulated through the water reservoir, completing the Humidification System's closed loop circuit. Water reservoir is equipped with Self Sealing Quick Disconnect inlet for refilling under sealed conditions.

DRYING SYSTEMS Two systems are available to dry these Humidity Control Glove Boxes a Desiccant Drying System (Pictured above) and a Dry Gas Purge System. The Desiccant System is standard however the Dry Gas Purge System can be substituted at no extra cost. The Dry Gas Purge System allows for a lower attainable humidity level 3% (1% using special dry gas) vs 5% for the desiccant System. The Gas Purge System is also cleaner, provides faster drying times and requires less maintenance (Desiccant needs to be rejuvenated). The Desiccant Drying system can be a lot less expensive to operate. The two systems can also be used to work together to minimize the cost of the dry gas purge system.

GLOVELESS SLEEVE All units are equipped with gloveless sleeves to allow superior handling of interior samples. However the moisture from skin does influence Humidity levels below 15% Rh and for these applications the user may need to operate with gloves which can easily placed over COY over the gloveless sleeve cuff. (Click here to see Gloveless Sleeves)

TRANSFER CHAMBER OPTION All units have an optional pass thru chamber (air lock) available. This enables transfer of equipment and samples with out drastic changes to the interior environment.

Glove boxes - Hypoxic - Polymer - Coy

Glove Boxes - Anaerobic - Vinyl - Coy

DESIGN THEORY

The Vinyl Anaerobic Chambers provide a strict anaerobic atmosphere of 0-5 parts per million (ppm) using a palladium catalyst and hydrogen gas mix of 5%. The heavy duty vacuum airlock allows sample transfer without changes to the internal atmosphere. The Programmable airlock allows the user to tailor an interchange sequence ideal for their lab experiments.
The Flexible nature of the unit allows for the user to reach deeper and higher into the unit. And the flexible nature of the unit combined with padded base and larger glove ports allows for greater ergonomics vs. a rigid glove box. The optically clear vinyl greatly increases operator vision, and the user does not encounter any glove "fight back" as the flexible nature allows the entire glove box to give with changes to internal volume.

PVC CONSTRUCTION

The glove boxes are constructed of heavy duty, flexible PVC mounted on a rigid base. Thickness ranges from 20 to 40 mils.

RELIABLE AND DURABLE

All seams are radio frequency welded to produce a one piece bag that will withstand many years of service.

AIRLOCK

A single push button begins the automatic sequencing of oxygen reduction within the airlock. Airlock can be adjusted to optimize the settings for the operation of the lab from experiment to experiment including number of cycles to level of the vacuum.

ECONOMICAL

Not only are Coy vinyl glove boxes less expensive than many comparable rigid glove boxes, but gas requirements are lower, the flexible glove box does not require any pressure relief or vent for excess gas keeping operating costs about 1/3 less than a rigid glove box of comparable size.

MODULAR DESIGN

Coy glove boxes are designed to be expandable and easily modified through the many options available.

CUSTOM SIZES AND CONFIGURATIONS

Available at minimal additional cost, and accessories are available to economically create special configurations.

GLOVE BOX DETAILS

• The glove box front is made of 20 mil pressed polished clear vinyl with 40 mil vinyl bottom extending 2" (51 mm) up on all sides. It is mounted on a 3/4" (19 mm) plywood base covered with a 1/4" (6 mm) foam pad and heavy vinyl. A 1" (25 mm) aluminium tubular frame supports the glove box. All glove boxes come with a large equipment entry installed opposite the entry lock. This entrance consists of a 20" (50 cm) entry cap that is taped in place after installing large equipment in the glove box.
• Glove ports, 10" x 13" oval opening (25 x 33 cm) on 19" (48 cm) centres, are constructed of a special highly flexible vinyl frosted to prevent cracking and gas leakage at bend points.
• Two 1 1/2" (38 mm) I.D. nipples are attached for electrical wiring input. (Additional nipples may be ordered at the time of purchase.)
• Also included as standard with all glove boxes, is a six receptacle electric outlet.
• Large gloves are supplied with the glove box (replacements or other sizes are available from Coy Laboratory Products).
• The neoprene gloves are placed over a special cuff and then placed in the permanently attached sleeves and taped in place. This system provides a means of replacing damaged gloves without affecting the atmosphere of the glove box. Additional glove ports can be ordered mounted in most positions if requested at the time of purchase.

Glove Boxes - Anaerobic - Aluminium - Coy

Rigid Anaerobic units

Rigid Anaerobic units can be manufacture from economical Polymer or the sturdy Aluminium.
The Aluminium units are ideal for labs with chemical resistance needs, due to the ability to upgrade the standard polycarbonate viewing screen to a Tempered Glass, and the Glove Port Panel to an Aluminium style. Aluminium Anaerobic Chambers also have the advantage to upgrade to a gloveless style.

The Polymer units are an easy and economical way to get started with an Anaerobic Chamber. Equipped with a purge only airlock these units are typically half the cost of the other style Anaerobic Chambers. It is important to keep in mind that while less expensive to purchase it may cost more to operate due to the purge only application of the airlock, but in a low volume lab this may be just the unit for you.

Anaerobic Atmosphere The COY Anaerobic Chambers provide a strict anaerobic atmosphere of 0-5 parts per million (ppm) using a palladium catalyst and hydrogen gas mix of 5%. Air is circulated through a Fan Box which is designed to house the wire mesh container of catalyst called a Stak-Pak. The process of removing O2 from the atmosphere can produce moisture so often times these Stak-Paks are filled with desiccant and stacked on top of the Catalyst. The airlock allows sample transfer without changes to the internal atmosphere by equilibrating the O2 levels through a Vacuum and Purge Procedure (Purge only for the Polymer Units).

Gloveless Anaerobic Chambers

From the two basic glove box styles, choose the design which suits your laboratory volume. Select either the compact, all clear, polycarbonate style with automatic purge airlock, or the larger aluminium glove box available with an automatic vacuum airlock.

Incubator Chambers - CO2 And Multigas - Coy

The Hypoxic Cabinet allows you to quickly and conveniently incubate samples (animal or cell culture) at reduced or elevated O2 levels. Cell Culture cabinets are designed to fit into an existing incubator for longer term incubation. The System
offers you the ability to change the O2 levels automatically with a sensor monitoring the conditions constantly and the Controller adjusting for changes to the desired set point by purging N2 gas or optionally O2 gas for Hyperoxic operation.
This avoids the purchase of costly gas mixes to satisfy a complete range of O2 levels.

Complete System Includes:
• O2 Controller + Sensor
• N2 Gas Regulator
• Pressure relief valve
• 2 sensor ports
• Circulation Fan
• Gas Inlet
• Sliding Shelf(s) for Cell culture units

The Hermetic Seal insures that even with the controllers unattached you can maintain set O2 levels for long periods of time. This also translates into better gas consumption as the “diffusion rate” is significantly reduced over a semi sealed cabinet.

System Options
• Heaters for precise temperature control.
• CO2 Control System (Sensor, tubing and gas regulator included) 0-20% control
• Tray for containment of water/desiccant or animal waste byproducts removal

Glove Boxes - Dry - Polymer - Coy

Coy Dry Glove Boxes control and maintain humidity levels below ambient conditions, achieving a humidity level of 5% or lower through either a desiccant system for removing moisture or through a dry gas purge system, typically utilizing dry nitrogen or argon. Control is through a revolutionary sensor and monitor/controller providing precise control in .1% increments, with tuning features.
STYLES Two standard styles are available: a clear Polycarbonate unit that features a lower cost to purchase, and relatively low cost to customize.

However, the moisture from skin does influence Humidity levels below 15% Rh and for these applications the user may need to operate with gloves which can easily placed over COY over the gloveless sleeve cuff. Click here for more info on Gloveless Sleeves.

TRANSFER CHAMBER OPTION All units have an optional pass thru chamber (air lock) available. This enables transfer of equipment and samples with out drastic changes to the interior environment.
