Ultrapure Water from Pretreated Water for Low-Volume Critical Applications
The Synergy system is designed for laboratories that already have access to purified water and need a point-of-use system to supply high quality ultrapure water. The compact design assures easy installation anywhere in your lab, on the bench or wall-mounted. The Synergy system allows delivery of a fixed volume of Type 1 water and automatically shuts off once the selected volume has been delivered.
For applications requiring very low organic contaminants levels, the Synergy system also incorporates a dual wavelength UV lamp to produce water with <5 ppb TOC (when feedwater TOC is below 50 ppb), making it suitable for HPLC, GC, ILC and TOC analyses. With the BioPak cartridge as a final filter, Synergy systems produce pyrogen-free, Nuclease-free water.
The Synergy system is designed for simple and intuitive operation. Water quality parameters (resistivity or conductivity, temperature) are clearly indicated on a bright color display. Maintenance is limited to a quick and easy replacement of a single consumable.

Ultrapure Water Quality on Demand
The Super-Q Plus System is a high-flow water system designed to provide the "final polish" to water which has been pretreated by reverse osmosis, distillation or deionization. Super-Q Plus systems consistently produce ultrapure water quality which exceeds Type 1 ASTM/CAP/CLSI specifications.
The Super-Q Plus water system features a modular design for the production of ultrapure water. The system also features automatic recirculation of water on an hourly basis to maintain water quality between uses. Because Super-Q product water is produced "on demand", there's no need to store water and risk degrading water quality over time.
Applications
• Tissue culture media preparation
• Reagent preparation
• Microelectronics wafer rinsing

Compact System Integrates Several Purification Technologies
The RiOs-DI 3 UV system is a very compact solution that efficiently combines reverse osmosis technology with deionization resins to produce high quality pure water of high resistivity and low TOC (> 10 MO·cm and < 50 ppb. The system’s product water is stored in an internal reservoir and is ideal for low volume routine laboratory applications.
The unique simple “plug-and-use” purification pack enables the production of high quality (Type 2) water from tap water. To ensure reliable contaminant removal, the pump-assisted flow of tap water steadily reaches the cartridge, in spite of low pressure on the supply side or drop in water temperature.
Applications
• Buffer and reagent preparation
• Microbiological culture media preparation
• General washing
• Feed to Milli-Q and Synergy ultrapure water systems
Features
• Combining several purification technologies including Reverse Osmosis and Deionization, the RiOs-DI 3 UV system removes all types of water contaminants (typically >99 %).
• The built in UV lamp* is ideal for applications that require low bacteria levels.
• The consumable is a “unique all-in-one” pack that includes the pre-treatment, reverse osmosis membrane and ion-exchange resin.
• Maintenance is reduced to the quick change of a single cartridge.
• Backlit color display shows resistivity, temperature and water level in reservoir.
• Integrated, compact 6-liter reservoir.
* This system is also available without UV lamp

This new system delivers ultrapure (Type 1) water customized to fit a broad range of research areas and makes ultrapure water conveniently available in any laboratory, regardless of space limitations or the stringency of regulatory norms.
Convenient Water Delivery
• Save time with the volumetric function, automatically delivering the water volume that you need, designed to fit the height & shape of all laboratory glassware.
• Easily prepare solutions with the low flow function to precisely adjust the meniscus in volumetric flasks.
Optimized Purification
Water is purified in a first step to reach a resistivity of 18.2 MO·cm at 25 °C and a TOC value below 5 ppb. This water is sent through a small recirculation loop to the POD pak, where a final purification step removes contaminants critical for specific experiments, just before water leaves the system. Choose from a variety of available polishing cartridges to remove specific contaminants at the point of delivery.
Easy Access to Information
A graphic screen clearly displays water quality and system status information in the language of your choice (6 different languages). A Quick Reference Guide located in the door of the Milli-Q Reference water system provides additional support for retrieving information.
Easy and Reduced Maintenance
With easily replaceable cartridges, a long-lasting UV lamp and timely service alerts, the system runs smoothly with nominal downtime. As with any Millipore water purification system, a comprehensive range of service programs are available to install, maintain, validate, and calibrate the Milli-Q Reference system.
Accessories to Customize Your System
• Save additional bench space by placing the Milli-Q Reference system under your bench or by using the wall mounting bracket
• Connect the Milli-Q Reference system to a Q-POD, and ultrapure water is always within reach. Daily performance is facilitated by having both ultrapure water and information conveniently delivered at the point of use.

Optimum pure water production
Tap water is first purified to pure (Type 3) water by reverse osmosis (RO) using techniques designed and optimized by Millipore:
• Pre-treatment ProGard® cartridge validated to extend the lifetime of the RO cartridge
• Reject recirculation loop which recycles reject water treated by the Progard to minimize tap water usage and extend Progard lifetime while avoiding fouling or scaling issues that might shorten the RO cartridge lifetime.
• Unique system adaptation to feed water temperature in order to avoid flow rate decrease during the winter time when tap water is colder.
• Unique safety device ensuring that only low ionic permeate water will be sent to the tank in order to warrant adequate pure water quality and to increase the life time of the ion-exchange cartridge used to produce ultrapure water.
• Complete process monitoring system checking systematically water temperature, pressure, conductivity and RO rejection using calibrated meters at different steps.
The pure water produced by the Reverse Osmosis is stored in a tank designed to minimize risks of contamination during water storage. Millipore tanks level sensor will allow the systems to automatically start or stop producing water when you want it, display accurately on the systems screen the water level in the tank and have safety devices preventing overflow or system running dry.
From that reservoir, water can be sourced though a front valve or sent by a delivery pump to feed instruments such as a glassware washing machine, or further processed by the Milli-Q Direct to produce ultrapure (type1) water.
Convenience in ultrapure water delivery
From pure water, the Milli-Q Direct produces ultrapure water adapted to your specific applications and exceeding the requirements of the most demanding norms.
We’ve achieved all this with a new purification strategy. Water is purified in a first step using unique Jetpore ion-exchange resin, synthetic activated carbon and UV lamp emitting at 185 and 254 nm to reach a resistivity of 18.2 MO.cm at 25 °C and a TOC value below 5 ppb, both monitored by advanced analytical techniques.
This water is sent through a small recirculation loop to the POD Pak, where a final purification step, critical for specific experiments, removes contaminants just before water leaves the system.

The Milli-Q Advantage system has been designed to deliver high quality ultrapure water adapted to every user’s needs in today’s laboratory environment.
The system features two separate and distinct components: the production unit and the delivery point-of-use unit:
• The Milli-Q production unit is a compact system that can be placed either on the bench, under the bench or on a wall–wherever it best suits you.
• The Q-POD (Quality-Point-of-Delivery) unit provides final polishing at the point-of-use, delivering ultrapure water adapted to specific needs. The Q-POD’s interface simplifies operation and displays essential data for complete user reassurance. Up to three Q-PODs can be used with each production unit at different locations within the same laboratory.
Convenient Delivery
Daily performance is facilitated by having both ultrapure water and information conveniently delivered at the point-of-use.
• The Q-POD unit is always within reach, and its convenient and adaptable dispensing enables the user to work both intuitively and precisely. The user can select either a very precise volume with the autofill key or manually press the plunger.
• The Q-POD unit’s multicolor graphic display allows easy interaction with the system and provides information about water quantity and quality.
Optimized Purification
The most reliable ultrapure water quality depends on building an optimized purification sequence.
• Pure water, ideally from an Elix purification system, enters the Q-Gard pretreatment pack which is chosen based on the feedwater source.

The right water quality for all lab activities. The Milli-Q Integral system includes a comprehensive and optimized sequence of water purification and monitoring technologies in a single unit, allowing both pure and ultrapure water to be produced directly from tap.
It provides pressurized, bacteria-free water through E-POD (Elix-Point-of-Delivery) units and Milli-Q ultrapure water through Q-POD (Quality-Point-of-Delivery) units.
Water can be delivered from the system’s exclusive production unit to as many as 3 independent PODs that can be conveniently located at different places in the laboratory. Each POD incorporates a color backlit screen enabling the user to check the operation of the entire system and the water quality at a glance.
The ergonomic design of the PODs accounts for the height and shape of regular laboratory glassware to ensure optimum user convenience.
Water can be delivered at different flow rates from the mobile dispenser located at the end of an 80 cm recirculation loop. The user can also select a specific water volume and have the Q-POD/E-POD unit automatically fill any laboratory vessel from a 100 mL Erlenmeyer flask to a 5 L calibrated flask or 20 L carboy.
To ensure easy adaptation to various laboratory applications, validated POD Packs polishers are available to remove contaminants that can impact specific applications (such as pyrogens, nucleases, bacteria, particulates, organics, etc.) just before water leaves the system. Configurations can easily evolve to match lab activity changes or extensions.
Features
• Pure and ultrapure water is available directly from tap water (no need to have a DI source in the lab) from 60 L/day up to 350 L/day (depending on model)
• Consistent production of superior quality pure water (better than twice the quality of distilled water) without the need to regenerate a DI tank, thanks to patented Elix technology
• Easy pure or ultrapure water delivery in different lab locations thanks to the PODs
• Easy and intuitive operation
• Application-specific water qualities through customized final polishers
• Built-in resistivity and TOC monitors designed to comply with the most demanding norms, including USP requirements (§ 643 and § 645).
• System manager-specific interface with protection of key set points by a login and password.
Applications
When the system is equipped with a 0.2 µm filter, the high purity water delivered by the system is suitable for HPLC, LC-MS, MALDI-ToF-MS, IC, ICP, AA and most of the analytical techniques commonly used in the laboratory. When an ultrafiltration cartridge (BioPak) is utilized at the point-of-use, the water is suitable for genomics applications (quality at least equivalent to DEPC-treated water) and cell culture. The water produced following the system’s pretreatment step may be used for basic laboratory needs, such as buffer and reagent preparation, microbiology media preparation, histology, dissolution testing (with UV detection) and rinsing of glassware.

(1) Product water Quality specifications are achievable only if feed water quality is within specifications and for typical operating conditions (i.e. after at least 1 day of regular operation)
(2) TOC values given for Eluent and Supressor lines after complete hydratation and rinsing of the Simplipak.
(3) Feed water conductivity above specification may prevent to reach the expected water product resistivity or lead to a premature exhaustion of the packs ion-exchange resins.
(4) Feed water TOC above specification may cause excessive fouling of the ion-exchange resin beads in the SimpliPak cartridge with as possible consequence a decrease of the ion-exchange capacity of the resin.
(5) A feed water temperature outside specifications may lead to premature damage to the system. |

Type 1 Water Instant Flow Rate Above 0.5 L/min
The Direct-Q 3 systems are designed for simple and intuitive operation. Water quality parameters (resistivity or conductivity, temperature) are clearly indicated on a bright color display. The Direct-Q 3 systems allow delivery of a fixed volume of Type I water and automatically shut off once the selected volume has been delivered.
The Type 1 product water is suitable for most low-volume laboratory applications, including the preparation of buffers for liquid chromatography separations and biochemical experiments, of solutions for analytical techniques such as spectrophotometry and spectroscopy, and of culture media.
For applications requiring very low organic contaminant levels, the
Direct-Q 3 UV system also incorporates a dual wavelength UV lamp to produce water with <5 ppb TOC, making it suitable for HPLC, GC, ILC and TOC analyses.
With the BioPak cartridge as a final filter, Direct-Q 3 systems produce pyrogen-free, RNase-free water for cell culture and molecular biology applications.
Applications
• Type 1 water for HPLC mobile phase preparation, sample dilution, buffer and cell culture media preparation, preparation of chemical solutions used with titrators, spectrophotometers and electrophoresis systems, preparation of culture media and reagents for molecular biology applications.
• Type 3 water for low-volume non critical applications such as glassware washing or rinsing.
Features
• Produce Type 1 ultrapure water (18.2 O·cm resistivity at 25 °C an < 10 ppb Total Organic Carbon) on demand directly from potable tap water.
• Available with a built-in 185 and 254 nm UV lamp for production of low TOC water required by organic-sensitive applications.
• Produce Type 3 (Reverse Osmosis) water for basic lab applications at a flow rate of 2.4 L/hr at 15 °C. Type III water is easily available from the 6 L built-in reservoir.
• Maintenance reduced to a simple cartridge change once or twice a year. Ideal for laboratories that do not have easy access to pretreated water and need between 1 and 10 L of ultrapure water per day.
• Alarm warning in case of a sudden drop in the quality of the product water.
• Dispensing adapted to different size laboratory glassware.
• Time-saving fixed volume dispense.
Compliance with Regulatory Standards
Systems are UL and cUL listed under file E216983 in the “Laboratory Use Electrical Equipment Category”, and meet the requirements of UL 61010 standards. Systems conform to European Union CE directives 89/336/CEE (electromagnetic compatibility) and 73/23/CEE (electrical equipment within certain voltage limits). All systems are manufactured in ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified environments.

Millipore Lab Water Purification Milli-Q Systems
Milli-Q® Integral Water Purification System
One water system—two water quality types
The right water quality for all lab activities. The Milli-Q Integral system includes a comprehensive and optimized sequence of water purification and monitoring technologies in a single unit, allowing both pure and ultrapure water to be produced directly from tap.
It provides pressurized, bacteria-free water through EPOD™ (Elix-Point-of-Delivery) units and MilliQ ultrapure water through QPOD® (Quality-Point-of-Delivery) units.
The user can also select a specific water volume and have the QPOD/E-POD unit automatically fill any laboratory vessel from a 100 mL Erlenmeyer flask to a 5 L calibrated flask or 20 L carboy.
