Especially in HIV Monitoring by CD4+ T-cell counting, conventional flow cytometers suffer from being too large, too expensive, service intensive, and not robust enough to be used in developing countries and resource-poor settings. Progress in component development and the availability of powerful and robust small solid state lasers allowed to design an entirely new compact dedicated flow cytometer, which has the size of a regular PC, only.
The CyFlow® SL_3 instrument is dedicated to perform true volumetric absolute counting of CD4 for adult patients (as well as CD8, CD3) and CD4% for pediatric patients by counting CD4, total lymphocyte count (TLC), CD45 (leukocytes) and the CD4 percentage within the total lymphocyte count (CD4%) out of one sample tube. Automatic display/print of clinical reports. With the CyFlow® SL_3 clinically validated and scientfically proven reliable routine monitoring in HIV/AIDS is now possible at a highly affordable cost level: For adult patients, the CD4 count can be offered at EUR 1.75 per test. For pediatric patients, the cost for CD4% measurements is EUR 2.50 per test. At this cost level, scaling-up of long-term sustainable treatment programmes is significantly supported.
The CyFlow® SL_3 runs on 12 V DC power (e.g. on a car battery) and therefore does not depend on a stabile regular power supply which might be important for remote places and for developing countries.

Flow Cytometer - Partec CyFlow® SL
The ultimative routine FCM
Compact mobile Flow Cytometer for any kind of cell analysis and absolute volumetric counting. The CyFlow® SL allows to analyze forward and side scatter signals in combination with up to 3 fluorescence channels. Data acquisition, analysis, and real-time display is performed with a PC or laptop employing Windows FloMax® software.
|
|
|
|
More and more routine applications for FCM have been introduced, such as: detection and counting of microorganisms in food processing, process control, life - dead analysis, and counting of immunolabelled cells like CD4, CD8 cell counting in HIV screening and treatment follow-up. In all these cases conventional flow cytometers suffer from being too large, too expensive, service intensive and not robust enough to be used in developing countries (e.g. HIV screening). Progress in component development and the availability of powerful and robust solid state lasers allowed to design an entirely new compact dedicated flow cytometer, which has the size of a regular PC, only.
The CyFlow® SL instrument can perform in a wide variety of analyses in human healthcare (3 colour immunophenotying), microbiology, industrial applications, process control, ecology, etc.
The CyFlow® SL allows forward and side scatter analysis together with up to 3 fluorescence parameters. Realtime data acquisition and display are performed by using FloMax®, a Windows-based FCM software. The CyFlow® SL allows to perform true volumetric absolute counting based on scatter signals after cell labelling with fluorescent dyes or antibodies. For different excitation wavelengths various solid state or Nd:YAG-lasers can be used. In addition, new laser diodes – emitting blue or violet light – allow to perform all those measurements, too, which have been performed with large air cooled lasers up to now.
The CyFlow® SL runs on 12 V DC power (e.g. on a car battery) and therefore does not depend on a stabile regular power supply which might be important for remote places and for developing countries.

The CyFlow® Counter is the dedicated flow cytometer for absolute counting of CD4+ T-cells (as well as CD45, CD8, and CD3) in routine HIV monitoring and AIDS patient follow-up for adults and children. Its easy-to-learn-easy-to-use pushbutton system interface, the direct and rapid counting result display in terms of cells per µl blood sample, the long lasting laser, and the highest stability of the optical and fluidic systems makes the CyFlow® Counter the ideal CD4 counter.
The CyFlow® Counter allows to perform true volumetric absolute counting without the need of any reference method (e.g. hematology counter, expensive reference beads) by employing realtime data acquisition and realtime data display.
The CyFlow® Counter runs either on 100-240 V and on 12 V DC power (e.g. on a car battery) and therefore does not depend on a stabile regular power supply which is important for remote places and for developing countries.
