Technical Notification

RE: XUB and XUBA Ultrasonic Baths

Grant Instruments has been manufacturing and selling scientific equipment for 60 years and prides itself on product quality, reliability and safety.  

This article relates to the Grant XUB range of ultrasonic baths XUBA1, XUBA3, XUB5, XUB10, XUB12, XUB18, XUB25. 

Running the baths without or with very low levels of water, will trigger a fault condition.  

This situation can also occur if the level sensor has been turned off when using deionised water (or water with very low conductivity), both of these scenarios must be avoided as described in the Ultrasonic Bath manual, they constitute misuse, invalidating the warranty (please contact us for full terms of the warranty)

Some end users have recently reported observing smoke being discharged from the unit when subjected to these non-standard disapproved conditions.  We would like to assure customers that whilst this observation of smoke may cause alarm, Grant XUB baths remain safe and conform to BS61010:2010 and will not ignite in this situation.
